@929kris 3 years at A&R Consultants, 12 years Atlantic Records-VP Alt. Promo, 1 year indie promo, 5 years radio geek KRXF Bend, OR
@altcontraband Q2.What are your proudest band breaking moments at Atlantic?
@929kris Jewel, STP, Sugar Ray, Matchbox 20, Tori Amos, Bad Religion, Lemonheads, Pavement, Liz Phair, Melvins, Collective Soul…
@altcontraband Holy WOW. What a list! Q3.Is it harder to break a band now or back in the 90’s when you were smokin’ the charts
@929kris Honestly, I think breaking a band is incredibly hard work at all levels and there will always be obstacles…
@altcontraband Q4.Tell us about your management and ownership group and why you enjoy working at FM 92/9?
@929kris My super cool and dedicated owner ‘gets’ it, my PD is rad and he gets it too. We all love music and radio simultaneously…
@altcontraband Gr8 to know, sounds like my WOXY days! Q5.Tell us the three most unique things about FM 92.9’s sound
@929kris 92/9 is uber local, we actually play requests, we don’t adhere to a particular format. Makes for a juicy stew of awesomeness.
@altcontraband Q6.What is Alternative radio doing well these days
@929kris Hmm, my hope is that alt. programmers still have the drive & passion to break bands. That didn’t really answer your ? did it?
@altcontraband Well, when a new Green Day single does not hit #1 on the chart, that’s a small sign new bands are being broken
@altcontraband Q7 Living in Bend, Or. seems like a utopian existence. Tell us about the town.
@929kris Outdoor mania! Fit bodies everywhere. Biking, running, boarding/skiing, hiking, water sports, and lots of beer drinking.
@929kris and it’s gorgeous here!
@altcontraband That’s my current version of utopia!! Q8.What’s the 3 best microbrews in Bend?
@929kris OMG we have 16 LOCAL breweries #inBend which makes it hard to choose. There isn’t a bad brew out of what they all offer.
@altcontraband That’s a lot of local beer discovery..love it! Q9.When you schedule music, what basic flow rules do you adhere to?
@929kris Rhythm, tempo, and pacing mean more to me than what band works well next to what artist. Plus, a little punk rock
@altcontraband Ha…a lotta punk rock! Q10.What are your five favorite records these days?
@929kris Japandroids, Bob Mould, just listened to Corin Tucker‘s new one & it’s brilliant, Jack White & Muse ‘Madness’ = smash!
@altcontraband Thanks Kris…always a pleasure to connect. Keep rockin’ on with yo bad self.
@929kris Right back atcha Phil. Thanks for asking.
