@altcontraband Q1. You’ve been at KJEE for, what, 18 years? What’s your title there and where were you before KJEE?
@SBEDY My title here is General Manager/Program Director. Prior to this I worked at the classic rock station KTYD in SB.
@altcontraband Q2. Tell us about your ownership and why they’re obviously great to work with as you‘ve been there so long.
@SBEDY Single owner & I use to work for his other company (land mobile radio business), real nice guy to work for plus I get to live in Santa Barbara.
@altcontraband Q3. There’s a trend rolling up and down the West Coast mainly where spins on power records have increased dramatically, up to 86X. Your powers are in the mid 50’s. What are yr thoughts on this movement?
@SBEDY I see the trend as something that PPM has created. We are not a PPM Arbitron Market so we don’t need to go that heavy on Powers, but we want to hit our POWER records hard.
@altcontraband Q4. Tell us about your team and how they make you look so good?
@SBEDY We have a great team over here and everyone has been here for awhile and it’s like a family atmosphere over here. Fun to work w/ everyone here.
@altcontraband Q5. Have you ever had to battle KROQ for presents on a show in Santa Barbara?
@SBEDY Not really because I know and work w/ the local promoters in town so they tend to work w/ local radio station. That’s the beauty of working in a small town, everyone knows each other and wants the other to succeed. Having KROQ up here is not the SB Way.
@altcontraband Q6. What’s alternative radio doing well these days?
@SBEDY We are still breaking new bands that have become big hits on other formats such as: Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, M83, and many more.
@altcontraband Q7. In your ultimate world, what are you doing different digitally than you are currently?
@SBEDY We are using more social media to announce contest’s and special events. We are also running FB only contests.
@altcontraband Q8. How’s the ratings? Who’s your competition?
@SBEDY Ratings were good and our CUME was way up. Our competition is the classic Rocker KTYD and the HOT AC station KRUZ.
@altcontraband Q9. Best SB micro-brew? ISLAND BREW. Best restaurant?
@SBEDY A tie between THE PALACE (Cajun food) or Holdren’s (Steak House).
